Periodontitis
What is Scaling and Root Planning (SRP) and how is it different from Cleaning?
Scaling and Root Planing, commonly referred to as deep cleaning in Dentistry, is a treatment aimed at removing plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) from the teeth and smoothing the roots of the tooth beneath the gum line. This therapy is often necessary to treat periodontal (gum) disease and prevent its progression. In contrast, general cleaning, also known as Oral Prophylaxis, is performed as part of preventive dentistry to help patients maintain good oral health.

WHAT TO EXPECT?
30min — 1 hour
Scaling and Root Planing may lead to minor bleeding and swelling, which are normal and usually subside within a few days. This treatment may span multiple visits and might require topical or local anesthetic for your comfort. Your dentist may also prescribe medication or provide a mouth rinse to ease discomfort and speed up healing.
Rest assured, our team is dedicated to ensuring your comfort and guiding you through a smooth recovery.
